Tom Bojalad joined The University of Akron track and field program as an assistant coach in charge of throws in September 2023.

Bojalad comes to Akron after working last season as an assistant track and field coach at Walsh University in Canton, Ohio.
Â
Bojalad joined the Walsh coaching staff in July of 2022 after he was a five-year student-athlete at Penn State in the discus, weight throw and shot put.Â
Â
In his first season as a member of the track and field staff, Bojalad led the throws squad to breaking two school records, three first-team All-America honorees and three Academic All-America recipients.

At the 2023 NCAA DII Outdoor Championship, Gabe Miller threw the discus 54.13m to earn fourth place. Dom Nutter registered a mark of 61.62 in the hammer to earn an eighth-place finish.

In 2023, Miller broke the school record in the discus multiple times, ending his career with a best of 54.57m.Â

During the 2023 indoor season, the men's weight squad was ranked second in all of DII in the USTFCCA Team Rankings. Miller set the school record multiple times, ending with a best of 20.94m and a 10th-place finish at the indoor National Championship. Nutter recorded a mark of 20.44m in the weight throw to earn sixth place at his first Indoor NCAA appearance

Miller, Michael Cornathan, and Colton Ferrucci were named Academic All-Americans during the 2023 season.

While as a student-athlete within the Nittany Lions track & field program, Bojalad was an strength and conditioning intern within a number of programs. He assisted with program preparation and several sport performance methods (strength training, movement speed skill, power training, energy system specific conditioning and recovery methods and nutrition).

As a high school student-athlete at St. Mary's High School (Pennsylvania), Bojalad won seven district titles, medaled six times at states and held the school record for Shot Put and Discus.
