STATESBORO, Ga. - The 13th-rated University of Akron rifle team opened its campaign dropping a pair of matches versus nationally-ranked squads as No. 3 TCU and No. 5 Georgia Southern bested the Zips on Saturday (Oct. 4).

Senior Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) climbed to the top of the smallbore leaderboard with her amazing 594 out of the possible 600. In doing so, Siek rewrote the Akron smallbore record book firing a perfect 200 in the kneeling position and finishing with a three-position score of 594. Her performance in the smallbore also established a facility record mark.

Senior Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) led the team in air rifle by equaling her personal-best score of 592. She also fired a season-high 580 smallbore and season high combined score of 1172.

Akron returns to competition hosting No. 10 Memphis on Sunday (Oct. 12) starting at 9 a.m. at the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range.
