SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Akron softball team fell 3-0 to Incarnate Word on Tuesday while scattering five hits against the Cardinals.
Junior Brooke Sivek led the Zips at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a triple and two singles.
Sophomore Macy Walters (3-1) got the ball to start for Akron (7-4) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on six hits, allowing two walks and striking out one.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Akron managed three chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Zips last got a runner on third in the sixth, when Sivek made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
