ASHLAND, Ohio - In its final tune-up for next weekend's Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, the University of Akron Track and Field team garnered six victories and 17 overall top five efforts to highlight the performances of the Zips at the Ashland Last Chance Meet on Saturday (Feb. 22).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y.) eclipsed a career-best mark of 13-3.50 (4.05m).
• Redshirt junior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) bested the field in the men's shot put with a career-best mark of 58-1.25 (17.71m).
• Senior Ruth Webb (Akron, Ohio) cleared 5-7.25 (1.71m) to win the women's high jump.
• Sophomore Rennie Gittens, Jr. (Miami, Fla.) won the men's 60 meters in 6.91.
• Freshman Shania Thomas (Bridgetown, Barbados) took the title in the women's triple jump with a 36-11.75 (11.27m).
• Sophomore Ayanna Stafford (Columbus, Ohio) won the women's 60 meters in a time of 7.76.

Akron travels to Ypsilanti, Mich., to compete at the MAC Championships on Friday (Feb. 28) and Saturday (March 1).
