Akron falls 1-0 to Sam Houston, Meagan Lee Leads offense with a pair of hits

SAN ANTONIO, Texas --The Akron Zips were not able to push a run across the plate against Sam Houston despite collecting five hits led by junior OF Meagan Lee.

Lee went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Akron's offense followed by junior IF Brooke Sivek, sophomore C Katie Cantrell and sophomore P Macy Walters with one hit each.

Walters (4-2) started and took the loss in the circle for Akron (8-6). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on three hits, allowing one walk while striking out two batters.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Akron did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Zips went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fifth, when sophomore Haley Glass made it into scoring position with two outs.

GAME NOTES

» The Zips out-hit the Bearkats at a 5-3 clip.
» Akron pitchers limited Sam Houston to just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.
» Akron pitchers faced 22 Sam Houston hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and nine fly balls while striking out two.
» Lee led the Zips at the plate, going 2-for-3.
