SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Akron softball team used a seven-run fifth inning to take down league-foe Bowling Green Falcons 7-2 in a non-conference contest on the final day of the Spartan Classic Sunday morning.

Offensively, the Zips were paced by junior Meagan Lee, who went 2-for-4 on the day with an RBI. Freshman Sydney Selker put together a noteworthy performance at the dish as well with two walks and an RBI, while Senior Alexis Campbell added a pair of RBI.

Sophomore Madie Jamrog (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (4-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on four hits, allowing one walk and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Akron's offense started clicking and put up seven runs, including a two-run error off the bat of Campbell. The score remained 7-2 for the rest of the game, as the Zips coasted to the win.
