Bottone and Horvath Show Out in Loss to Bowling Green

AKRON, Ohio -Â Andrew Horvath and Evan Bottone each collected three hits, but the Akron Zips fell to the Bowling Green Falcons 11-5 on Saturday.
In addition to his three hits, Bottone had a home run and three RBI to lead the Zips, along with Horvath's three base knocks. Blake Bowen also chipped in for Akron, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding three walks.
Jack Fenton (0-1) got the ball to start for Akron (6-12, 0-5) and took the loss. Jacob Beall was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing 1.1 shutout innings, allowing one hit, with no walks and one strikeout. Lan
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 9-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. C. Matlon came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron and get them on the board.
The Zips deficit expanded to 10-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. Akron scored twice on Bottone's two-run homer, which tightened the Falcons lead to 10-3.
Akron kept the Falcons off the board before narrowing the gap to 10-5 in the seventh. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Bowling Green added one run to their tally on the way to an 11-5 final.
