Zips Sweep Bowling Green in a Doubleheader on Tuesday

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron softball team defended Lee R. Jackson Field with a pair of victories over the Bowling Green Falcons on Tuesday.
GAME 1 | Akron 10, Bowling Green 2
Lily Sullivan collected four hits to help power the Akron Zips over the Bowling Green Falcons 10-2 on Tuesday.
Macy Walters (7-7) got the win for Akron (17-17, 4-5). The right-hander went six innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out four.
In addition to her four hits, Sullivan had two RBI to lead the Zips. Katie Cantrell put together a standout day at the plate as well, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI. Delaney Jenkinson also helped out for Akron, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Akron scored twice on a two-run double off the bat of Cantrell.
The Zips then held the Falcons scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Akron offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a one-run double off the bat of Jenkinson, which brought the score to 6-0 in favor of the Zips.
Bowling Green narrowed Akron's lead to 6-2 before the Zips stretched the advantage to 7-2 in the fifth inning.
Akron held the Falcons scoreless before their offense got things moving the next inning. bringing the score to 10-2 in favor of Akron. The score remained 10-2 for the rest of the game, as the Zips coasted to the win.

The Akron Zips took a 3-2 lead in the first inning and never trailed from there on the way to a 7-6 win over the Bowling Green Falcons on Tuesday.
At the plate, the Zips were paced by Meagan Lee, who went 3-for-4 on the day with an RBI. Sydney Selker furnished a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Sophia Wygast also helped out for Akron, putting together two hits in two trips to the plate while adding a walk and an RBI.
Macy Walters (8-7) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Akron (18-17, 5-5). The right-hander went 1.1 shutout innings while giving up two hits. Madie Jamrog also made an impact in the circle for the Zips, throwing 4.2 innings, giving up three runs, one earned, on three hits, with one walk and four strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 2-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board.
The Zips then held the Falcons scoreless before expanding their lead in the third inning. which brought the score to 6-2 in favor of the Zips.
Bowling Green came back to even the ballgame at six before Akron reclaimed a 7-6 advantage in the sixth inning. The Zips scored once on an RBI single off the bat of . The score remained 7-6 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.
