AZUSA, Calif. – Headlined by a school-record time from freshman Bismack Kipchirchir (Eldama Ravine, Kenya) in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase, the University of Akron successfully opened competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational on Wednesday (April 16).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Kipchirchir ran a school-record time of 8:27.51 to place fourth in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.
• Freshman Moses Lekokei (Kilgoris, Kenya) won the men's 10,000 meters in a career-best time of 29:04.90, the second-fastest performance in outdoor program history.
• Redshirt senior Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) ran a career-best time of 36:07.84 in the women's 10,000 meters.
• Senior Grace Henderson (Rostraver Township, Pa.) added a season-best time of 11:22.87 in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase.

UP NEXT:
Akron is set to compete the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., and the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., on Thursday (April 17).
