SCOUTING REPORT
The Golden Flashes enter the series with a 26-13 overall record, a 14-4 record in the MAC and a 16-2 record at home.
Kent State is riding a five-game winning streak which includes a 14-4 victory over Youngstown State at home on April 23.
Wednesday night's victory marked the 374th in Jeff Duncan's Kent State career passing Rick Rembielak for the most in program history.
Nine different Golden Flashes recorded an RBI in the win while eight players recorded a hit. Brody Williams had a home run as part of a 2-for-3 day against the Penguins.
Alejandro Covas leads Kent in batting average (.370), while Hayden Jatczak is the leader in hits (53), doubles (21), shares the lead in RBI (50)and holds the high mark in walks (30). Two Golden Flashes are tied for the lead in triples (4) and Jake Casey is the leader in home runs (11).
On the mound, Jacob Bean holds a 6-2 record with a 3.75 ERA in 10 starts. Peyton Cariaco has a team-leading nine saves in 19 appearances and 25.1 innings of work. Gavin Jones leads the staff in innings pitched (51.1) while Bean is the leader in strikeouts with 47.

The Zips come into the series after going 1-1 in midweek action. Akron is 13-7 overall, 6-15 in the MAC and 6-14 on the road.
Akron took down Cedarville 10-0 at Skeeles Field on Monday while falling 11-5 at Ohio State on Tuesday.
Nicky Sackett, Andrew Horvath and Kyle McConachie all recorded three hits over the two mid-week games. Will Heisler hit a home run in his lone plate appearance against Cedarville.
Horvath leads the Zips in batting average (.333) and is one of three Zips to hit .300 or better. Horvath also leads the Zips in doubles (12). Evan Bottone leads the way in hits (53) while Blake Bowen is the leader in home runs (5). Jack Poist leads the way in RBI (28) and stolen bases (12) while Max Bowman is the leader in walks (34).
On the mound, Johnny Anservitz leads the pitching staff with a 3.86 ERA in 14 appearances while collecting a team-high three saves in 16.1 innings of work. Jared Schaeffer leads the way in innings pitched (58.2) and strikeouts (52).
