AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips are set for the final road swing of Mid-American Conference play when they visit Northern Illinois (Friday and Saturday, April 25-26, and then off to Buffalo on Tuesday, April 29 for a doubleheader.
WHAT'S AHEAD
Akron is set to battle the Huskies in a single game on Friday, April 25 at 4 p.m. at Mary M. Bell Field followed by a doubleheader on Saturday, April 26 at 2 and 4 p.m. to decide the series.

SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS HUSKIES (17-24, 11-9 MAC)
The Broncos enter the series with an 17-24 overall record and 11-9 in MAC play, winning five of the last eight games as NIU defeated Buffalo (5-3 and 20-2), Bradley (7-6 8 inn.) and Kent State (9-8 and 5-3). Under third-year head coach Craig Nicholson leads the Akron in its 49th season of intercollegiate competition, posting a 23-21 overall record and 10-7 in league play. The Zips return 18 players from the 2024 squad and added seven newcomers to the 2025 roster.
The Zips have three players batting above .300 as Meagan Lee (.392) leads the way. Lee owns a team-best 56 hits in 143 at bats with 2 triples, 4 doubles, 13 RBI and 28 runs scored. Sophia Wygast (.350) follows with 43 hits, and team-highs in homeruns (6) and RBI (31). Brooke Sivek (.324) rounds out the top hitters with 45 hits and a team-high 31 runs scored, while Alexis Campbell (.298) and Lily Sullivan (.297) are just below the .300 mark.
