DEKALB, Ill --The Akron Zips fought back from down 2-0 in the fifth inning to defeat the Northern Illinois Huskies 5-2 Friday.

Akron scattered seven hits as Katie Cantrell (1-for-4 )and Delany Jenkinson (1-for-3) both distributed doubles with two RBIs. Lily Sullivan was the multiple-hit leader, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.

Macy Walters (12-9) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (24-21, 11-7). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out three.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips were trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Akron scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Jenkinson.

The Zips then held the Huskies scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. Akron managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the Zips lead to 5-2. The score remained 5-2 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.
