Akron Travels to Buffalo for Midweek #MACtion

AKRON, Ohio – Akron will play its final regular season road series against Buffalo on Wednesday, April 30 at 1 and 3 p.m.
WHAT'S AHEAD
The Zips are scheduled to play against the Buffalo Bulls and return Lee R. Jackson Field on Saturday and Sunday, May 3-4 against Kent State in the regular season league finale.

The Zips lead the series 42-14, including the last seven straight games. Akron and Buffalo did not meet last season due to weather conditions. In 2023, the Zips swept the series 3-0 in Buffalo by scores of 4-1, 9-4 and 5-1.

The Broncos enter the series with an 16-29 overall record and 9-13 in MAC play, winning the last series over Ball State 2-3 (W 6-3, W 5-3, L 3-2). The Bulls have three players batting above .300 as Emily Gorman (.423) leads the way. Gorman is second on the squad in hits (44), doubles (9) and walks (21) and adds 20 RBI and 27 runs scored. Abbey Nagel is second in average (.358) but leads the team in Hits (49), runs scored (32), doubles (10) and homeruns (7) and is second in RBI (29). Reagan Terwilliger (.318) rounds out the top-3 hitters with 35 hits, 30 runs scored and seven RBI.

Under third-year head coach Craig Nicholson leads the Akron in its 49th season of intercollegiate competition, posting a 20-19 overall record and 7-7 in league play. The Zips return 18 players from the 2024 squad and added seven newcomers to the 2025 roster.
The Zips have four players batting above .300 as Meagan Lee (.387) leads the way with 60 hits in 155 at bats. Lee scored 31 times and distributed four doubles, two triples and 16 RBI. Sophia Wygast (.364) follows with 45 hits, and team-highs in homeruns (6) and RBI (30). Brooke Sivek (.312) and Lily Sullivan (.303) round out the top hitters. Sivek has 48 hits and a team-high 32 runs scored, while Sullivan has 43 hits with nine doubles and one homerun, generating a 20 RBI.
