LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 15th-rated University of Akron rifle team ran into a talented top-rated Kentucky on Saturday (Jan. 31) as the Wildcats fired an NCAA-record score to best the Zips 4762-4690.

Freshman Matthew Kimball (Pineville, La.) led the squad by tying his smallbore career high with a 588 score. Rounding out Akron's top four were seniors Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) (584), Joey Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.) (581) and Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) (580).

Air rifle featured a hard-fought battle between Kimball and junior Kaleb Santiso (Ridgway, Pa.), both firing 591's. Siek (589) and Paddock (588) rounded out Akron's top four in the event.

Akron returns to competition traveling to Cambridge, Mass., to battle MIT and Norwich on Saturday (Feb. 7).
