Akron Falls Twice to Kent State on Sunday

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron baseball team fell twice to Kent State in a doubleheader on Sunday.
GAME 1 | Kent State 12, Akron 1
The Akron baseball team fell to Kent State, 12-1, to open the doubleheader on Sunday. Henry Haymen drove in the lone run of the day on a 1-for-2 day. Blake Bowen produced the other hit for the Zips.Â
Brady Bowen (3-3) started and took the loss on the mound for Akron (20-27, 10-16).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Akron got an RBI single from Hayman, scoring Prince DeBoskie from third base. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Kent State added nine runs to their tally on the way to a 12-1 final.

Prince DeBoskie went 1 for 4 with a home run and an RBI for the Akron Zips in a 7-2 loss to the Kent State Golden Flashes on Sunday.
Carter Beck (0-2) got the ball to start for Akron (20-28, 10-17) and took the loss. Jeremiah Newman was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing five innings, giving up one run on two hits, with no walks and five strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 6-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. DeBoskie put Akron on the board with a leadoff home run off Ben Rabatin.
The Golden Flashes expanded their lead to 7-1 before the Zips offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the seventh. Henry Hayman came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron, which tightened the Golden Flashes lead to 7-2. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
