Akron Celebrates Senior Day after Series Finale Setback to Central Michigan

AKRON, Ohio – After securing the 2026 Regular Season MAC Championship with a doubleheader sweep on Saturday, the Akron Zips fell 17-15 to Central Michigan, while celebrating their senior's final game at Lee R. Jackson Field on Sunday.

Akron claimed the series 2-1 and honored No. 2 Brooke Sivek (Boerne, Texas), No. 24 Delaney Jenkinson (Holly, Mich.), No. 56 Abigail Scheller (North Hills, Pa.) and No. 77 Meagan Lee (Leander, Texas) after the game.

Akron generated 15 runs on 14 hits, including five homeruns, three triples and two doubles. The Zips had five players with multiple-hit performances led by Sydney Selker. Selker went 3-for-4 on the day with a pair of homeruns, a triple, a walk and four RBI with four runs scored.

Delaney Jenkinson put together a standout effort as well, going 2-for-4 with a homerun, a triple and two RBIs, while Sivek, Sullivan and Day added two-hit performances.

Sivek went 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Sullivan registered a 2-for-4 effort with a triple, a double and three RBIs.

McKayla McGee and Haley Glass also launched homeruns as both players accounted for had two RBIs.

Macy Walters started the game in the circle and left with a non-decision, while Selker (0-4) took the loss for Akron (31-23, 21-6).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Zips lost despite scoring in six different innings in the ballgame, last holding the lead in the second inning at 2-1. Akron's biggest output came in its four-run sixth inning. The Zips hit two home runs in the inning on the way to scoring their four runs.
