MAC Tournament: Sullivan's Walk-Off Grand Slam Sends Akron to MAC Championship Game

AKRON, Ohio - Down 2-0 in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and the bases loaded, Lily Sullivan delivered a walk-off grand slam to lift the Akron Zips softball team to a 4-2 win over Western Michigan on Friday at Firestone Stadium.
Western Michigan pitcher Ava Geyer neutralized the Zips offensive attack for most of the game as Akron collected four hits off the right-handed pitcher. Meagan Lee went 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Sullivan drove in four runs in one swing of the bat. In the fifth inning, Sullivan lifted what was thought to be a game-tying home run to right field but WMU's right fielder, Megan Malartisik, robbed the home run.  Katie Cantrell also produced a hit in the contest.
Madie Jamrog (17-6) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (33-23). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out five.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Akron did not score until the bottom of the seventh, when they put up four runs trailing 2-0, walking it off on Sullivan's grand slam off of Geyer.
