Zips Drop to RedHawks in MAC Opener
September 17 | Women's Soccer
OXFORD, Ohio — The Akron women's soccer team dropped their MAC opener at Miami, 2-1, against the RedHawks.
The Zips got on the board first in the sixth minute on a Rachel Wenzel goal set up by an assist from Tewabech Seerup. Twenty minutes later, the RedHawks cashed in on a ball that landed in the upper right corner of the net to knot the score.
It remained tied until the 56th minute, when Akron put the ball in their own net after trying to attempt a clear and eventually led to the RedHawk victory.
Miami outshot Akron, 13-9, and had seven corner kick opportunities. Sara Bower played 61 minutes in net, while Freya Blatz finished the final 29. Both made one save each, while Bower allowed both goals.

The Zips will return home and face Bowling Green on Senior Day on Sunday, September 20. The match is set for 1 p.m.
