AKRON, Ohio – Akron softball is back in #MACtion play on the road against Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant, Mich. on Friday and Saturday, March 21-22.

The Zips will battle the Chippewas in a doubleheader on Friday and a single game series finale on Saturday.

The Akron Zips trail in the series, but have won three of the last four games. The Zips defeated Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant 6-5 on May 6, 2023 and also posted a pair of victories in 2024 by scores of 4-0 and 7-6. The Chippewas avoided the sweep last season, winning the series finale 5-4.
SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN CHIPPEWAS (8-15, 1-2 MAC)
Central Michigan enters the series with a 8-15 overall record and 1-2 in MAC play. The Chippewas have four players batting above .300 as Carly Sleeman (.390) leads the way. She leads the squad in hits (30) and extra base hits (13) with five doubles and eight homeruns. Sleeman adds a team-best 24 RBI and walked 10 times, while scoring 15 runs. London Williams (.370), Tori Briggs (.359) and Rachel Cairo (.327) round out the top-4 hitters.

Under third-year head coach Craig Nicholson Akron is 14-13 overall in its 49th season of intercollegiate competition. The Zips return 18 players from the 2024 squad and added seven newcomers to the 2025 roster.
The Zips have six players batting above .300 as Meagan Lee leads the way with a .345 batting average. Lee owns a team-best 30 hits in 87 at bats with a triple, double and six RBI. Brooke Sivek follows with a.337 average, batting 28-for-83 with a triple, double and four RBI while Alexis Campbell is third in average at .321 with 26 hits, including a triple, two doubles, homerun and 17 RBI. The final three players batting above .300 are Sophia Wygast (.313), Lily Sullivan (.310) and Sydney Selker (.306).
