MURRAY, Ky. -- The Akron Zips swept the final day of the Racers Classic, defeating Cleveland State (9-1) and Murray State (4-3) on Saturday at Racer Field.

Game 1 -- Four Akron players collected multiple hits to help lead the Zips past the Cleveland State Vikings 9-1 Saturday.

Sophomore Madie Jamrog (5-2) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (11-11). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on seven hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the third inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up four runs, including a one-run single off the bat of sophomore Katie Cantrell.

The Zips then held the Vikings scoreless before getting back on the board the very next inning. The Akron offense exploded for four runs, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of senior Alexis Campbell, which brought the score to 8-1 in favor of the Zips.

Akron kept Cleveland State without a run before building their lead to 9-1 in the sixth inning. The Zips scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Campbell. The score remained 9-1 for the rest of the game, as Akron coasted to the win.

Game 2 --The Akron Zips got a boost from junior Meagan Lee, who racked up three hits in a 4-3 win over the Murray State Racers Saturday.

Sophomore Macy Walters (4-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (12-11). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on nine hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.

In addition to her three hits, Lee had a walk to lead the Zips. Freshman Andrea Day put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple. Sophomore Lily Sullivan also contributed for Akron, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 2-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Akron scored twice, with one run coming across on sophomore Sophia Wygast's single.

The game remained tied until the very next inning, when the Zips got going again on offense. Akron managed to push across two runs in the inning, which brought the score to 4-2 in favor of the Zips. Murray State put one run on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Akron still held on for the 4-3 win.
