Six Zips Record Multiple Hits in 12-3 Victory Against Western Michigan

AKRON, Ohio -Â Akron got contributions from every part of their lineup, as all nine starters reached base safely, helping the Zips put 12 runs on the board and beat the Western Michigan Broncos 12-3 Friday.
Six Zips recorded multiple hits against the Broncos in the win. Andrea Day went 2-for-3 and drove in three runs for the Zips. Alexis Campbell went 1-for-3 with a double and recorded three RBI for the Blue and Gold. Brooke Sivek, Meagan Lee, Lily Sullivan Katie Cantrell and Sydney Selker all recorded two hits in the victory.Â
Madie Jamrog (7-4) got the win for Akron (21-19, 8-7). The right-hander went 4.1 innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on 10 hits.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Akron scored twice, with one run coming across on Sivek's single.
The Broncos then gained ground, narrowing the lead to 2-1 until the Zips expanded their advantage in the third. which brought the score to 5-1 in favor of the Zips.
Akron kept Western Michigan scoreless before expanding their lead to 9-1 the following inning. The Zips bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of Campbell.
The Broncos gained ground, closing the gap to 9-3 until Akron added some insurance in the fifth. The three-run frame for the Zips was punctuated by a two-run single off the bat of Day. bringing the score to 12-3 in favor of Akron. The score remained 12-3 for the rest of the game, as the Zips coasted to the win.
