ZIps Win Series 2-1 with 7th Inning Comeback

DEKALB, Ill. --The Akron Zips split a doubleheader with Northern Illinois to claim the series 2-1 after scoring two runs in the seventh inning to secure the series on Saturday.
GAME 2 | Akron 3, Northern Illinois 2
The Akron Zips responded from down 2-1 in the sixth inning to win in thrilling fashion, tallying two runs in the seventh to earn a 3-2 victory over the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday.
The Zips scattered seven hits, including a hit up the middle by Meagan Lee to plate the go-ahead run. Brooke Sivek scored the game winner from second base after hitting into a fielder's choice that tied the game. Lee went 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored, while Delany Jenkinson was perfect from the plate, going 2-for-2 with a walk and run scored.
Macy Walters (13-9) started in the circle and picked up the win for Akron (25-22, 12-8). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on eight hits, allowing one walk and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the top of the first inning. Akron plated a run on a based-loaded walk by senior A. Campbell.
The Zips lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the seventh trailing 2-1. Akron brought home a pair, with one run driven in by junior Me. Lee's single, which brought the score to 3-2 in favor of the Zips. The score remained 3-2 for the rest of the game, as Akron held on for the win.

» Akron's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed two runs across.

The Akron Zips were not able to score a run against Northern Illinois pitcher L. Cassell on Saturday despite collecting six hits and were shut out 3-0 by the Huskies.
Madie Jamrog (8-5) got the ball to start for Akron (24-22, 11-8) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Akron managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. The Zips last got a runner on third in the sixth, when H. Glass made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.
