Lee Collects 4 Hits, Akron Falls 13-6 to Ohio State

COLUMBUS, Ohio --Junior Meagan Lee racked up four hits, but the Akron Zips fell to the No. 22 Ohio State Buckeyes 13-6 on Wednesday.
Lee's four-hit day led the Zips offensively. Sophomore Katie Cantrell put together a standout performance as well, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. Senior Alexis Campbell also helped out for Akron, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double, a walk and an RBI.
Sophomore Mallory Herwerden (1-1) got the ball to start for Akron (14-16) and took the loss. Junior Haley Croyle was a bright spot for the Zips, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one shutout inning, allowing one hit.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 8-0, the Zips first put runs on the board in the third inning. Akron's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run double off the bat of Cantrell and a two-run single from freshman Andrea .
The Zips deficit grew to 11-5 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the sixth inning. Junior Brooke Sivek came across to score the lone run of the inning for Akron, which tightened the Buckeyes lead to 11-6. The Zips were unable to get any closer, as Ohio State added two runs to their tally on the way to a 13-6 final.
